OK, this is getting ridiculous, Encinal soon to eat our "green" lunch??

Well, it looks like both our Seedy council and our county commissioner's court have fallen asleep at the wheel again. Last night, the coverage you can count on team at Pro8News reported that a company named CGI is looking to set up shop in Ecincal. They are proposing a recycling center to process old tires (attention: KeyRose), oil field sludge and even municipal waste into "green" diesel fuel.

Yes, it seems like even the tiny hamlet of Encinal has jumped on the eat Laredo's lunch bandwagon. Tsk, Tsk. The word is that the plant could be up and running as soon as May, 2012.

  1. Laredo produces the trash...why wouldn't Encinal cash in on cleaning up? Laredoans will always be "Dejados"

  2. I want to look more into this GGI company and its plans, but it doesn't surprise me that somebody else, Encinal in this case, would take the lead in green technology and business.

We are years away from being eco-conscious. And the saddest part of this is that we actually have somebody on city council who has a degree dealing with the environment, Alex Perez. But of course, Encinal wins big here.

I tried to look up Mr. Perez' bio on the city website but the link is not operational. Nice.

  3. THe only group named CGI with an environmental tie is the Carmel Green Initiative, as in Carmel, California I think. Wasn't that the town that Clint Eastwood was the mayor of? In the meantime Jaime Canales lauds the Fracking industry's jobs. Make that dirty jobs.
